Final call for submissions
Posted on Thursday, 1 December, 2011
The draft Racecourse Precinct Neighbourhood Plan has been open for public consultation since 1 November. This is the last chance for residents to lodge a submission about the plan.
All formal submissions must be properly made in accordance with legislative requirements and received within the official 'public notification period' (1 November to 9 December 2011). A fact sheet on how to prepare your submission has been provided on Council's website. Click here to view the fact sheet.
I was pleased to see lots of locals at the ‘Get to know your Neighbourhood Plan’ sessions held at St Augustines Church hall on 9 November.
If you weren’t able to make it and still want to find out more about the plan, you can:
1. call Council on 3403 8888;
2. download a copy at www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/neighbourhoodplanning
3. visit the Hamilton Ward office or a Brisbane City Council customer service centre;
4. visit the Hamilton library to download a copy (free internet)
Since September 2009, Brisbane City Council has been working with the local community to plan for the future of the Racecourse Precinct. Together we have created a plan for managing growth through sustainable and responsible development. This is your final chance to comment on the draft Neighbourhood Plan and, if you want to, suggest changes.
All written submissions will be reviewed and responded to by Council before finalising the plan. Once any changes have been made, the plan is then sent to the Queensland Government for approval. Once approved, the Racecourse Precinct Neighbourhood Plan will be formally adopted and included in Brisbane’s City Plan 2000 as a legal document that guides development in the area.
I look forward to reading all comments on the draft Racecourse Precinct Neighbourhood Plan.
